Inti, Sun

Inti is the sun. Gold, amber and rust threads, warm as altiplano light at four in the afternoon when the whole plain turns the colour of dry grass. It is the family that looks best in the last hour of the day.

The colours

The Nazca carries a desert stripe with gold chakana embroidery; the Oruro a carnival weave on black where the warm threads lead; the Arequipa messenger bag is cut from amber-toned cloth, the only bag in the family. All three lean warm even where other colours cross through.
